My name is Cathy Neuman and I am the seventh grade science teacher on the blue team. I am very excited to be a part of the Hawthorn Middle School North family.
A little bit about me... I have been working with children of all ages for over 20 years. I have my degree in elementary/middle school education from Southern Illinois University. On a personal note, my husband and I are the proud parents of two incredible boys. We also have three crazy cats. When I am not in my classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and going to my kids' sporting events. I also enjoy reading and going for walks. When I am in the classroom, I love to facilitate learning. I love to see when students have those "ah ha" moments. It is so amazing to watch a student be successful and I truly believe that every student can be successful.
A little bit about my class... This year we will be learning and weather, climate, cells and genetics. I want students to always be active participants in the learning process. I love to connect science to real world situations so that the students can see how science is in action all around them. My goal is closely aligned with the district statement. I want to inspire students to embrace learning and become life-long learners.
I am looking forward to a FUN and SUCCESSFUL year!
